ABC training system

Our approach to training
Description of the SFBT Center training system
We know from experience that people who come to us want to learn how to work with the SFBT approach and gain the knowledge needed to use its techniques efficiently. This is a reasonable, as the professional application of therapeutic assistance requires a conscious and responsible approach from any given therapist. For this very reason, our traineeship includes elements of lecture-based education interwoven with workshops.
Each workshop part (teaching how to use a particular skill included in the canon of approach) is supported by an explanation of the rules of its use, justification of the order in which it appears in the sessions, examples of variants of its construction, etc. We want the participants of our training to present the highest possible level of knowledge of the Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) method.
The ABC of Solution Focused Brief Therapy training is meant to guide participants to gain knowledge and skills in this method of aid.
For this reason the system of training developed by us, and subsequently adopted by other centers, is based on adding new skills, broadening their scope of application, and getting an in-depth understanding of those skills on top of competences gained during specific stages of our training.
In order to remember these training stages more easily we refer to them as A, B, and C. Each of them can be treated as separate and sufficient or they can be regarded as a possibility to connect theoretical concepts and practical skills – depending on the objective adopted
by the trainee.
